Therapy Shouldn’t Feel Clinical

From the moment you turn onto the quiet country road leading to ProActive Therapy & Wellness, the experience feels a little different.

You’ll pass open spaces and horse farms on your way here, leaving some of the noise and busyness behind. When you arrive, you won’t find a crowded parking lot, a busy reception desk, rows of treatment tables, or a waiting room full of people.

Instead, you’ll find a peaceful, welcoming studio designed to make movement—and therapy—feel different.

A Space Designed for Movement

Step inside the studio and the first thing you’ll notice is the space itself.

High vaulted ceilings and exposed cedar joists create a warm, open feeling, and many people tell me they notice the wonderful scent of the cedar as soon as they walk through the door.

Around the room, you’ll see the tools we might use to help you move better: exercise balls, hand weights, boxing bags, cardio equipment, aerobic steppers, yoga mats, wall barres, TRX and resistance straps, large mirrors, and an overhead safety harness that allows us to practice balance and more challenging movements with added security.

There’s plenty of room to walk, reach, stretch, strengthen, practice getting on and off the floor, work on balance, or tackle the real-life movements that matter to you.

But what you may notice most is what isn’t here.

There aren't several therapists treating multiple people at once. There aren't other clients exercising a few feet away while you're trying to explain what's bothering you. There isn't the feeling that someone is watching the clock because another patient is waiting for your treatment table.

During a private session, this space—and my attention—are yours.

And Then There’s the Lounge…

Through a set of double glass-paned doors is one of my favorite parts of the studio: the lounge.

It feels much more like a comfortable living room or sunroom than a medical waiting area. Two couches and two armchairs offer plenty of places to settle in, while a table and chairs provide another spot to sit, talk, read, or enjoy a cup of coffee.

Two walls of windows look out over the grassy yard, and gentle music is often playing in the background. There's a turntable and a collection of LPs, magazines to browse, games to play, along with hot coffee, tea, and a water station.

Consultations often happen here because sometimes the best place to start isn't on a treatment table. It's sitting comfortably, having a conversation about what's happening, what you're concerned about, and what you'd like to be able to do.

And if you arrive early? That's okay. In fact, you're welcome to.

Come in, pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea, choose a magazine, listen to the music, look out the windows, and enjoy a few quiet minutes before your appointment. If you aren't in a hurry afterward, you're welcome to stay for a little while, too.

On a beautiful day, you may even choose one of the padded chairs on the covered front porch and simply enjoy being outside.

There’s no need to rush in or rush out.

Your Time Really Is Your Time

One of the things I wanted to change when I created ProActive Therapy & Wellness was the typical therapy experience.

I wanted enough time to listen.

I wanted enough space to move.

And I wanted the person in front of me to feel like the most important person in the room—because during your appointment, you are.

Private sessions are truly private. Unless you're participating in one of our small-group classes, you aren't sharing your appointment time or my attention with other clients.

That gives us the freedom to focus on what matters to you—whether that's improving your balance, getting stronger, reducing pain, learning how to get on and off the floor, returning to an activity you love, or simply feeling more confident about what your body can do.

Private When You Need It. Social When You Want It.

Although the studio is ideal for individualized care, it was also created with community in mind.

Small classes bring people together without getting lost in a crowd. There's room to move, laugh, learn, challenge yourself, and get to know the people around you. The smaller setting also allows for more personal attention and modifications when they're needed.

It's a place where individualized therapy and community can coexist.

Come when you need focused one-on-one help. Stay because you've found people who also want to keep moving, learning, and living well.

Come See It for Yourself

It's difficult to completely describe the studio because so much of what makes it special is something you have to experience—the drive through the countryside, the smell of the cedar when you walk in, the openness of the gym, the sunlight coming through the lounge windows, the music playing quietly in the background, and the feeling that nobody is trying to hurry you along.

ProActive Therapy & Wellness was intentionally created to feel less like a clinic and more like a place where you can move, learn, connect, and feel at home.

So come a little early.

Have a cup of coffee.

Take a look around.

And when it's time for your appointment, know that you have my full attention.

This is your time.
